888 Poker Review

888 is one of the fastest growing online poker sites in the industry. A recent major software upgrade has put them along side the industry leaders and they are now ranked as one of the top 5 poker rooms in the world.

Rating: 35/50

The lobby is easy to navigate with a very user friendly 'Favourites' tab. The filters in the lobby are slightly basic, making it hard to filter out unwanted games/stakes which wastes time looking for the games you like to play. The table software is excellent, easy to use and very clear for the user to operate. Multi-tabling is also very easy with a queuing system, but this doesn't always work as well as it does on other poker sites.

Rating: 8/10

Customer Service

The customer service is very good with 'Live Chat' in operation which means you don't have to wait ages for an email response. Email is also available with standard reply times.

Rating: 9/10

Tournament Schedule

Their tournament schedule is good with mixed buy-ins that start regularly and they use synchronized breaks which helps with multi-siting. Their Sit n Go's can take a while to fill up, especially at medium stakes and above. The poor standard of play definitely makes up for the little extra wait though. Their big weekly tournament is a $100,000GTD 1 rebuy game with a $90 buy-in and an $82 re-buy available.

Rating: 8/10

Cash Game Traffic

Cash game traffic has much improved recently and they now offer webcam tables so you can not only play your opponents, but see them too, making it the most real poker experience yet. They offer the usual wide selection of stakes but the large percentage of traffic is micro stakes with very few games running at high stakes.

Rating: 7/10

The rake is the only real downside to 888poker. Their cash rake is capped at $4 which is $1 above the industry standard so playing at 888poker is more expensive, but the lack of good players due to this reason makes up for that. Their Sit n Go rake is also slightly on the high side but 888poker remains a good site to play on and to make money on.
